send it any now!!!! sounds like one of your main parts are damaged. also if it is new have you put the batery on to charge? if not when they are new the battery has no charge in it yet.

this is why we like follow up posts. if the problem was fixed please tell us how...
but from the sounds from what he was saying my best guess was that the mother board was damaged or the screen its self. |

followup:
im friends with glass. problem was never resolved, and the computer was out of warrenty. just a dead laptop now. he ended up just purchasing a powerbook duo core.
the g3 also has serious over heating problems.
my suggestion is to go with a g3 eclipse if you are going to go with an abs machine (which i own a g3 eclipse and love it to death). my mother has a normal g3 and has had no problems with it what so ever, save that it gets hotter than anyone would like, but no shutdown problems. i guess its just luck when it comes to the g3s.
but like i said, g3 eclipses, have no issues that i know about, i own one, my friend owns one, and neither of us have had any issues, the exhaust fan is also located on the side now rather than bottom, which cleared up a lot of the overheating issues the g3 had, and it uses a mobile turion 64 cpu rather than a full blown athlon 64.

Opened it up and took off cpu and gpu heat sink...cheap cheap thermal pad for the ati gpu heatsink...slap on some as5 on the die chip but keep the cheap stuff on the heatsink, that way there's contact. Somehow heat sink is too high. put some as5 on cpu chip and screw everything back on...Ran 3dmark2001 completely and restarts normally now. We'll just have to see how long it'll hold up. I will be thinking of better ways to get the heatsink on the gpu without the cheap pads. |
