Laptop doesn't recognize cd drive?

Hello

This is the day to do the scheduled format and recovery of my laptop. I used the recovery that with my laptop and it has worked perfectly until recent. I was about to install my webcam driver, when, alas. There was no cd driver. Nowhere to be seen. I checekd in hardware, and it's not there either. I'm installing everything using my external DVD-R. Does anyone know what the cause of the problem could be? It's really odd that I've done this 4 times and this is the only time this has hapened. It's not even 1 year old. Thanks. If the laptop isn't one year old, then you should still be covered under warranty. It sounds probable that your CD drive controller or CD drive itself has failed. The only thing you could do is check Device Manager to see if the CD Drive is listed there (or any IDE controllers have exclamation points or question marks on their icons).

Look in bios and see if its detected in there.. .if not.... open the laptop and check the connections

There is nothing relating to a cd drive in the Device manager. There is no way I will send my laptop overseas to get the warranty.

How do you check if it is detected in the bios? The cd drive appears as startup device.

Well, it doesn't matter, I think it was a physical problem. I pushed the cd deck inside and now it recognizes it. Thanks for the help anyways.
