Dell Laptops

I recently got a Dell Latitude D505, and everyone I've talked to seems to think that Dell Laptops aren't very good, at least on the durability side. Does anyone have a comment on this? The laptop seems fine so far, although I'll say they don't build them as ruggedly as many manufacturers.

My sister has one and it has been a total nightmare....I think both of the optical drives died and it has had several other issues...perhaps hers was just a lemon

My Inspiron 5000e still runs like a top after (?) years. I've heard durability complaints on Compaq, Toshiba, etc, too.

Then again, I don't play frisbee with mine.

I've purchased several for work. The only problems I've had to deal with are dropped units and viruses.

Well, most of the bad comments I've heard have been from people who aren't terribly careful with their laptops (carry them around in backpacks, etc).
