Hello,
got a funky issue here, any ideas?
I've got a Toshiba 4005CDS that will not boot past the initial Toshiba splash screen. The buttons will work and beep at me (caps lock turns on/off and such) but nothing happens. It wont let me into the BIOS and doesnt give any beep codes or messages. I grabbed the latest BIOS revision for the board and using a nifty feature of Toshiba's mobo's, I held down the f12 key and it automatically looked at the floppy and flashed the updated BIOS successfully, but still wont boot.
While it sits at that screen, the standard indicator lights are solid (battery/on light, floppy light comes on and goes off, and the HDD light is solid but turns off after about 15 seconds. You kind of hear the HDD slow down too. I've tried booting with the batter removed, the HDD removed and a disk in the drive or no disk in the drive and had no change. I'm reluctant to say the whole mobo is shot but...I dunno.
My next step was going to be to pull the memory and see what it does...If I can at least get it go past that splash screen, I'd be happy cause then I can narrow it down. No new hardware has been added and it was fine and then it wasnt....
