P233 laptop-are they worth it?

The state surplus has about 50 P233(3.?GB, 96 ram, CD-rom) Compaqs I think. They were all reduced to $245. I would like one for my wife to use on cable internet. She doesn't need anything fancy. She just does sweepstakes online. Is that a fair price? And do you think I could even use it on the cable service?

yeah, it'll be more than enough for real basic surfing... i used to run a p200 like a workhorse (win98, ie 5.5, office 2k, photoshop 5.5, quark 4.1, winamp, etc...)

Sound like they're Armada 1570/1571DM's. I'd say they're worth about $200 if they're in real good condition.

I agree with storm2k on the real BASIC surfing.
