| Bluetooth at last...almost
I am finally getting a cell phone that is bluetooth compatable.....I am a Paramedic and will get plenty of use of the hands free bluetooth headset that I already purchased. The phone will be a Nokia 6255i on Cellular One and will be here on tuesday. The reviews I have read have been overall very good stating it is the "best non-nextel phone on the market." I also want to pair it with my Palm Tungsten T3 to share my phone contact list without the tedious task of typing in each contact on the phone. Anyone know of anything else I can do with this bluetooth technology? Tips, Tricks, etc...
Thanx,
Jeff |

You can use the phone headset as a microphone and speaker on your computer. Just need to add bluetooth to your computer to do that. A Bluetooth USB adapter adds bluetooth to your computer. Then you can also wirelessly hotsync your PDA with your computer, transfer pics from your phone, and send files to your printer from your PDA via your computer. lol...whoever came up with that name was one funny duck. lol i remember when i first started working with computers and the school tech opened up the case and it had integrated network that used a dongle to go from the mobo to the side of the case....when he ever said the word dongle..i thought i was about to die. I never realised it's the actual term for it until a few days later.....lol.
sorry to be so irrelivent but i just got a phone with bluetooth and want this thread in my history so i can check back to it when i get some more cash lol. |

Sorry I forgot to mention something that's kind of important. Bluetooth devices have software 'profiles' that are loaded onto them, and the profiles determine what you can do with that device. For example, a Bluetooth headset would have the 'headset profile' so that it will work as a headset with the phone.
So... just because a device has bluetooth built in, it won't automatically work with another device. Not *all* headsets will work as a microphone for your computer, although most new Bluetooth headset models will work just fine.
For a slightly better explanation of Bluetooth profiles you can read the very end of the Bluetooth Technology Guide here: http://www.blueessentials.com/info |
