From a laptop point of view, how does the 1 Ghz Mobile AMD Athlon 4 CPU stack up to the Mobile Intel PIII 1.13GHZ. Is the Athlon equivalent to the 1.13 or 1.2 Ghz???

Has the DDR chipsets come out for laptops yet? Anyways, I get so confused with the Intels these days. If the mobile 1.13's and 1.2's are Tualatin bases cores and run at 133 FSB (whice should be the case with a speed of 1.13), then the performance should be about equivalent, I would think.

The P4 laptops are coming out... and let me tell you from experience. If you have money to burn on a P4 (they are kind of expensive) you should. Have a P4 1.7GHz system w/ 512MB RAMBUS sitting back there that can start up in a few seconds, shut down in like 4 and starts programs before you click

Here are some more details about the 2 laptops i am considering.
Both are HP's and are roughly the same in all respects except the Athlon has 256MB of RAM and 8MB of dedicated video memory and the Intel 1.13 has 512MB of RAM and 16 MB of shared video memory, and is 2 lbs lighter. The intel equipped laptop is their newer model and looks cooler whereas the Athlon is last years model. Other than that there are pretty much the same. Do u think the 512MB of RAM will give the pentium CPU an edge over the athlon? |

In your case .. go with INTEL .
The 512MB Memory is worth it ... specially when you do games or image editing or muti-tasks...
