| Best Laptop for under $3500 I (for work) am looking at the best laptop I can find for about $3500.
Currenty I have (from work) a IBM T41 1.6G Centrino laptop.
What I would like.
15" screen
Wifi
Bluetooth
Fast Hard drive with 100GB space plus
Very good Graphics x700 comes to mind (wanna play some games on it).
hopefully 64bit support (and may even dual core cpu)
and it has to be fairly light in weight.
has a good docking station as I will be hooking up dual 19" DVI monitors to it (my IBM does it currently).
2 GB of Ram (current lappy has 1GB)
Battery support isn't a big deal as I will purchase additional batteries on top of this price.
I live in Canada so I would rather stick to the main brands (as this is for work).
I would like to stick with either IBM/Dell (don't like em very much)/Toshiba/compaq/HP/Panasonic...
any ideas or thoughts on what I should get?

| Well with a budget of $3500, you'll be able to get anything you want. Since you're in Canada, Acer is a very popular choice up there. If you're willing to wait a couple weeks, the new TravelMate 8200 will be out. It's got a whole lot of features and not as heavy. Carbon fiber construction should be sturdy and stylish at the same time. Although, the x700 is already a powerful card, the x1600 which will blow away. |

| Well if it ends up being true that you can dual boot an apple laptop with XP then I'd have to say that would be one of your better options. But with similar options the above travelmate wouldn't be to bad either. |

But then- Vista's not exactly around the corner. |

| No, it's not 64-bit. The 64 bit Yonahs are coming about Q2 - mid 2006. Don't get me wrong, it's still a powerful chip. |

I just heard from the MacWorld show interviews that it wouldn't support it, but if TechIMO says it may, then I'll just see how it goes - I hope it's not giving anyone false hopes. I dont know, I'd still probably go with the Acer, I'm not too fond of a single mouse clicker or any other incapabilities. |

| Well I just put one of the Travel Mate 8200 on order. 2GB of Ram, the fastest processor they could offer and a docking station for the lappy.
I should have it mid February sometime as its just coming out to market right now.
I can't wait. |
