| Dell Inspiron B130
My niece bought a Dell Inspiron B130 laptop. She went to thr Verizon office and signed up for wireless satalite? service. The pccard they gave her will not work. After trying to install it they told her to find out from Dell whst card she needs. Joke, Dell doesn't know anything. Does anyone know what card she needs to be able to use Verizon on her laptop. The card they gave her was a Verizon PC5740 .TIA Deane

What is wrong with teh card Verizon gave you? If they gave it to you, there is no reason why it shouldn't work... |

They said it didn't fit the slot. This was over the phone. The light on the card never came on. I used to have IBM Thinkpad and it needed drivers for card and socket services. Don't see anything like that for Dell. |

Who said it didn't fit the slot?
Tech support usually sucks and doesn't know what they are doing...have you tried it yourself? |

The Verizon help deak is the one that decided that it didn't fit. Felt like it seated to me. I am hearing impaired so I couldn't talk to them on the phone. |

Ok, it felt like it seated to you, but it didn't show up in XP as new hardware, right? |

They told her to run the install disk and let it tell her when to install the card. We did that but it never sees the card. I looked in device manager and didn't see it. I think the card must be bad.

The B130 does not take a PCMCIA card. You need the newer ExpressCard type wireless adapter. Go to the Dell support home page and enter the service tag number of your notebook and you'll find all this information quite easily.
No surprise that Verizon never heard of this. They're so obsolete. |

Can't you take the system to a local Verizon store? They got techs there to help install anything you want- they want you to use their service, they'll help you out. If it never worked, you shouldn't have to pay. |

Turns out that the Dell B130 has the new express/32 slot. No vendors as yet have a wireless card that will fit this . Have to wait for a vendor to develop one. Thanks for all the help. |
