Im looking for a 12.1inch laptop which is mainly for work, entertainment (dvd playing, avis bla bla) and some playable games(not a priority). I dont really have a budget right now. Preferabbly something not expensive. Can you guys reccomend me something that comes with not an integrated or Intel video chipset? My main usage will be work+dvd, avi watching. |

Nothing beats an Averatec for that size and not that much money. You should check them out. Not the best in build quality, but it's what you're looking for- very affordable too. |

When I meant I do not have a budget right now...I mean I'm flexible bout the price. Can anyone tell me what kind of 12.1" laptops out there without intel video chipsets or wihtout any integrated vid chips? |

Acer's got a TravelMate with that screen size, Toshiba's R200, Dell's got the m710, IBM's X Series, and the Asus W5Ae. I believe the IBM/Levono X series does have an option for an ATI video card and the rest are basics (please correct me if I'm wrong). When you talking about such a small form factor, you won't see much premium graphic cards in these mainly due to heat. When one has such a small screen, users are more into battery life over gaming requirements. 12" notebooks are more for the basic tasks and not much extensive computing. |

Hm. Thanks for the info. I'm looking one that will play my videos or any codecs flawlessly without consuming much of my RAM or processing power. So that's why I opt for a non-integrated card. Anymore reccomendations? |

Playing video with an integrated video should be fine. Extra RAM would do good for multitasking and ease of play for bigger video files. As for dedicated graphics, you'd need that for something like 3D gaming. |

As I said I have no budget right now. I might have a windfall this summer and my budget might stretch. Well, to be safe...it'll be like less than 1.7k$. 12.1 inch is a priority as I will use it most for work and video watching only. |

Well if you're buying in the Summer, then it's safe to wait about 2 months prior to purchasing. By then, there should be more of different products and newer selections. Side note, I for got to mention the customizeable Z33a from Asus 12.1" normal ratio screen. We've also got a $100 rebate for the W5Ae (until March 3rd). And although, they're not 12.1", Sony's got a few nice 11 and 13 inchers with excellent displays. |
