| Dell E1705 Desktop Replacement?
Inspiron E1705 Intel® Core™ Duo Processor T2500 (2GHz/667MHz FSB)
LCD Panel 17 inch Wide Screen XGA+ Display
Memory 1GB Shared Dual Channel DDR2 SDRAM at 667MHz
Video Card 256MB NVIDA® GeForce™ Go 7800
Hard Drive 60GB 5400RPM SATA Hard Drive
$1,483
I'm comparing against a HP zd8000 3.0ghz pent iv ATI x600 1 gig 1.0GB DDR2 SDRAM, 533MHz (2x512MB)
For about the same price.
Just a gamer (WoW, Doom 3, Civ 4), running Flight Sim's too. How do the processors stack up?
Mobility is the least of my worries...looking for a desktop replacement I can lug home once or twice a month (student in college). How would this system run? Any other suggestions? $1600 is my limit, it could be stretched if I tried though... Thanks for the help! |

You mentioned you're a college student. Don't you have other considerations than "gaming potential"?
By the way, going home twice a month is for momma's boys. You need to start spending your weekends at school. |

Thanks Osprey
If anyone has any technical advice on the computer that'd be appreciated as well, but I could use some social tips n tricks as well. I'm a very awkward person.
I go home on weekends for soccer. No. That's a lie. I'm awkward. |

Learn to build your own computer and you can have exactly what you want. It isn't hard, fun, and by the sound of it you have plenty of spare time. |

Build a laptop? Even if I could... isn't an option. |

ohh laptop, then mybad. Though you could probably get a very good mobile desktop, I think it would be cheaper and almost as mobile as a laptop (as long as it is only a few times a month). |

Okay, and as for the two options I've presented? How does the 7800 Go stack up against the X600, or the X700 (which is another option by on a separate computer)?
