| Upgrading Processor on Laptop
I have an Asus A6K laptop.
Currently it has an AMD Turion 64 MT-28 1.60 GHz.
I asked Asus which processors would be compatible with my model in case I would like to upgrade in the future. Here is their response: Quote:
Dear Friend :
Yeah, you can upgrade the processor, and the processor list that A6K can support:
AMD Turion™ 64 Mobile Technology,1MB L2 cache, 35W ML-30/34/37/40
AMD Turion™ 64 Mobile Technology, 1MB L2 cache , 25W MT-30/34
Mobile AMD Sempron™ Processor, 128KB L2 cache , 25W 2600+/2800+/ 3000+/3100 +
Thank you for using ASUS products and enjoying ASUS services!
| Now the question is, would it be wise to upgrade to the AMD Turion 64 MT-40 2.2GHz?
I realize it will eat up more power when I am on the battery.
It will also be a hotter processor and so the fan may be louder and on much more often.
What else? pros/cons? |

if ur not gaming, don't bother. save your money for something else. I upgraded my 1.7 PM to 2.26 and I don't see much of a difference in windows. A light increase in gaming. But hey, I got a 2.2ghz processor |

Hmm makes sense. I think another stick of 1gb ram would be nice.
I guess i can always upgrade later when/if there is a need to do so. |
