Dear forum
This is my first posting on this posting; the above laptop, which I recently bought from an auction, is having problem getting off the ground.
In this regard I have installed the setup (diags) partition on the hdd, and attempted to setup windows on it using a floppy win 98se boot disk and a cd in the cd-rom drive.
although the boot disk runs from the floppy drive the program on it ends with the message "win 98se setup files not found.
I tried a different boot disk and again the cd drive (apparently drive R: ) wont be recognised.
if one goes to r: prompt and setup.exe, then the system doesnt recognise. .
one message says after the retry/abort/fail message "no label on volume R".
I think the cd drive may be faulty but not sure - once one powers up it will open the cd rom door, therefore it could be a configuration problem in that the system not presently recognising the cd rom drive.
Please can some kind soul advise in this matter.
