My dad is looking at laptops, and is considering this one. Neither of us know much about the different brands and what not, so any suggestions would be much appreciated.
Maybe better laptops at the same price range, or whether the 5024 is a good choice. Thanks for any replies.

I'm not entirely sure. The Acer model is about $1430 + tax (15%). This is all canadian pricing.
I was just told by a client that acer is a bottom line product and Toshiba is better? Though I don't know if that would be true really depending on the system specs.
That Acer 5024 is really hard to find reviews on, as are alot of laptops it seems. Though I did see it listed at Ncix.ca I think. I will find a link. http://www.ncix.com/products/index.p...nufacture=Acer

Hmmm I will have to check those. He had phoned today, and said he wanted to buy one. He was originally going to rush out and grab one, but now he is gonna take a few to think about it. Which is better I think.
Gonna check on the dell's right now. |

I would definitely buy a Toshiba over an Acer. If the price wasn't to much higher.
Look all over this page for deals. http://www.techbargains.com/
Dell 4.9lb Inspiron 600m Notebook $499
HP V5000Z 15.4 Widescreen Notebook $499
Gateway MX7118 Notebook with Mobile AMD Athlon 64 3400+ $799.99

The sheer amount of info on the net is making my head spin. Looking at that page made me feel like I had ADD, LoL. Even trying to sift through googled results about anything to do with laptops or specific models is becoming overwhelming.
When it's just a vid card, or processor or something, then it's easy. But I find laptops are a whole other story.
I have a feeling he will probably go with the Acer 5024 now though, and anything equivolent in a Toshiba model would probably be a fair amount more. They are pricey, at par with Dell perhaps even, if not more expensive. |

I'm not entirely sure. Video editing, spreadsheets, a dock for his handicam/camera? A bit of gaming perhaps. I really dunno. Home/business use I guess. I am sure he will try to use it for anything, it's more a matter of what it CAN do, heh. |

Is this meant to be a desktop replacement? Is battery life or portability a factor? |
