| Laptop Graphics Card Heat
Hi,
I just installed Doom 3 on my laptop, its first ever game i have played since i have got the laptop. The details are at Meduim right now, and after about 40mins worth of playing, the vent at the side get really hot. Ive played for about 2 hours max, nothing happens. I was wondering if it was possible for the graphics card to get burnt out or fried over long period of time??

What kind of graphics card is in there?
You shouldn't have to worry about it...but if it starts artifacting, quit the game asap...and let it cool down. |

If it ever artifacts (like EXreaction said), then there might be a problem or incompatibility. You don't have to limit yourself at any tasks, unless your laptop is not powerful enough for the tasks at hand. |

Ive got the ATi X700, 128Mb.
It hasnt yet showed any probelms, everything is running smoothly. I dont have to limit the tasks or anything like that, but i dont usually use any programs while im playing anyway.
I just wanted to be on the safe side really, i know that laptop are delicate and im still wondering how everything is cooled by one fan, in one place. |

If you're really worried, put a desk fan blowing right on the laptop that'll help a bit and also put something ventilated underneath it to lift it off your desk.
If it gets really hot I don't recommend using the laptop on your lap.
