I've got my IPAQ 1950 connected ok to my wirless router and connects to internet ok. I've created a share on my desktop PC and I've been trying to connect to this from my IPAQ. I just keep getting network path not found. I've tried \\192.168.0.200\ and \\gofpc1\ but non of thease work. My IPAQ ip address is 192.168.0205. My IPAQ has windows mobile 5 and i've been trying to use file explorer. I've also tried using other network browsing programs and can't get them to work either.
Any one help. |

What is this share? Is it a folder or a application?
Im not sure if this is possible on PDA's or IPAQ's, but have you tried sharing something on the IPAQ and seeing if can connect to your PC okay?
Also, check your firewall settings, make sure you have allowed the IPAQ to access files on your computer. Test it again without the firewall on, if your worried about security, disconnect the internet then you wont get any other unwanted access from outside the network whilst your firewall is down.

I've created a folder called share on my desktop pc and then shared it by right clicking and selecting share. I've created a guest account and this works fine as I've managed to browse to it from my work laptop.
I'didn't know you could share from windows mobile is this possible. I can ping all the devices from each other. I've even had my IPAQ connected to a webserver I had running on my desktop pc. Quote: |

I've now confirgured norton firewal so a couple of local ip address's have acces to my PC and now my PDA connects. I don't know why my work laptop manged to connect no problem though before. Quote: |

One thing for some reason on a network drive if I double click a file like a mp3 or video file oe word doc it doesn't even try to start an application to open the file. I does this for files in PDA's own memory and CF card. One other thig is that media player 9 wont browse the network drive so I can't get it to play any music file without first creating a short cut locally on my pda. Is there a way to map a network drive in WM5 IE. |

Yep, norton is pretty good at blocking applications like that.
Okay, im not quite sure if its possible to actually map a netwrok in the IE itself, but you can go to my computer and do it from there, and then access it via the IE by clicking on open or something like that in the WM options.
Is this 'WM5 IE' on your PDA? |
