Mobile P3 vs. Mobile P4

Anyone know which is better a P3 1.2GHz or the new P4 1.6GHz. I hear Intel is increasing the FSB speed in the P4's but are decreasing the abount of data going thru it or some crazy stuff like that. How do the 2 compare to each other? Can anyone give the pro's and cons of both?

I don`t have cons and pros .. sorry ..
But if i were you i would pick the P3 1.2GHz ... the 1.6GHz is still new expensive and both will perform about the same, i think ...

What are you planning to do on your laptop?

I'm not planning on doing anything intense, just the usual browsing and word processing and occasional gaming. I was wondering if the DDR RAM in the P4 will give it an edge over the P3.

With the things you are planning to do ... a 600MHz PIII will be enough and perfect for you ...

For surfing and word proccessing, i used to have a 366MHz celeron which did the job in a decent speed ...

So get the 1.2GHz PIII and increase your RAM to 256MB at least (512MB would be better ) ... trust me you will have a nice machine ...

About gaming on a laptop, mm .. make sure you have a nice video chip .. ATI or nVidia with 16MB of VRAM at least .... that if you want to play 3D games ..

The mobile P4 isn't all that, read the reviews and benchmarks. With the DDR paired to the P4, you'd think the gains would be quite noticeable. Neglible gains against the P3-1.2G mobile chip.

Perhaps better suited for the developers out there. Unless you do some major FPS gaming on your laptop, and P3 suffices.
