I have a Gateway 4535 laptop and Im trying to use the keyboard that came with my Emachine desktop because it has a numeric keypad. Here's the setup: I have both computers hooked up to a Linksys KVM switch, so they can share the monitor and the mouse and keyboard. The mouse and keyboard both came with the Emachine. Because both the mouse and keyboard are PS/2, I bought a Dynex PS/2 to USB cable (with two PS/2 cables to one USB plug). When I toggle from the desktop to the laptop, the monitor works fine and so does the mouse. However, the keyboard does not. I have plugged the USB cable adapter into ALL USB ports (which subsequently installed the drivers on each port) and it starts to work then stops. What is the deal? Does anyone have a clue what to do or have had this problem? Im at a loss. If I cant get it to work soon Im taking the Dynex thingy back.
