Display problems/gardebled display on IBM Lenovo Thinkpad T42

Dear People,

I hope someone can help me with this. I have a new IBM Lenovo Thinkpad T42. Whenever I run some program and it displays some graphic in its menus, it is garbled. Looks like a mix of colors and lines. I can view photos and videos without any problem. Even when I run 'Dosplay properties' on Windows XP, the part where an example of the desktop is shown as a small picture, even that is garbled.

The device drivers for graphics card (ATI) and the monitor are latest, and windows doesn't comment a problem in 'Device Manager'. Kindly help me solve this puzzle.

Joel

One quick check is to hook up to a desk-top monitor. Good video- good card? Maybe the use the original drivers for the laptop? Bad video- Video card trouble? Have you changed the resolution on your screen?

Re: Display problem suggestion

Yes the video output is good..the garbled display and lines appear in programs..such as when photoshop loads, the initial picture shown is distorted, and in display properties in windows, the map of the desktop shown is also similiarly distorted. There are no problems at all with video output..I can view movies or pictures in any viewer without any probs...Funnily I can view pics in ACDSee quite well but the pic of ACDSee that is displayed at first is distorted..Similiar is the case with all programs..whenever these give some picture as part of their menus or dialog boxes, these are scrambled with lines and colors. Seems to be a strange problem. Hope someone can come up with a solution!

Question
Display problems with T42

Hey,

I am experiencing the same problem as you described a couple of years ago with your T42. Did you fix the problem and if so how?

Thanks,

Randy
