Palm Pilot database update?

Hey guys, had an interesting question for anyone with Palm Pilot experience.

2 Part question:

Is there any way to transmit data from the palm pilot to your PC (via serial port) constantly, without having to 'Hotsync' every time, making the transfer process very quick and easy?

And finally, if you enter data from memo pad, or some other application, how can you get it onto the computer as a comma delimited text file?
