Thread: Lappy Suggestions

I'll be getting my first lappy soon, and I'd be interested in any suggestions.
I used to game a lot, but there isn't enough time these days. I really only need it for school work and work work, but I've always wanted a sweet laptop to game on.
Battery life and mobility is important, and I'd prefer a dual-core processor, 7200 RPM hard drive (storage space negligible), and a decent sized display. If I can get a decent video card without spending too much more, I'm all for it.
I'm an AMD fan, but I remember hearing that they're more power hungry than Intel's competing processors. Is this still true for the Turion 64 X2 and Core 2 Duo? Also, is 2 GB of DDR2 RAM really necessary as Dell suggests?
I'm not really interested in Vista, so it would be cool if it came with a blank hard drive if it would save me money.
I'm looking to spend from $1,000 to $1,400, the lower being the more desirable.
Thanks for any suggestions.

The way to get Windows XP on a laptop is to buy a business laptop. If you go to Best Buy for Business, they list sevral XP lappies.RayH42450@gmail.com
