| On the market for a new laptop, please help.
Hi, I am currently looking for a new computer (most likely a laptop) and was hoping that I could get some suggestions about what I should buy and where I should buy it from. Here are some of the things I am looking for:
-If possible I would like to keep the price around 1,000$ or less.
-I would like for it to be pretty good at playing games.
-A relatively large HD, 160G if possible and definetly no less then 100G. (I think 160G is the most hd space you can get in a laptop, right?)
-I'm trying to go with and Intel Dual Core processor since I have heard that Intel prices should be dropping around this time.
-It would be preferable, though not really neccesary, to have a camera and mic built in. I think quite a few laptops have been doing that lately.
-Ability to connect to a separate monitor, keyboard, mouse, and wireless internet. (Haha, I think most laptops have these abilities, but I just figured I would add that anyways.)
Hmm, at the moment those are all the details I can think of. Haha, sorry for requesting help with so many details, but I figured that maybe someone out there knows of a good place to buy a nice computer. Well, thanks alot.

$1000 is probably not going to get you a laptop that will play games well, especially with a 160 GB hard drive. I've come up with nothing so far, but I'll keep looking...
Edit: I usually do not reccomend HPs, but this one looks ok: http://www.shopping.hp.com/webapp/sh...dv6500t_series
Customize it so that it has these:
2 GB of RAM
The 8400M GS video card (Not necessarily good, but the best other than this would be 6150 integrated.
Hard Drive upgrade to 160 GB
And there, you're right at $1,004
A better battery would be nice, but isn't needed.

Cool cool, thanks for the help. I've been looking at the link to the other thread that Turtle in Training sent me. I think about your offer Kaminsknator. I've also got another question:
Is there anywhere that I can find a comparitive list of Laptop Graphics Card? I'm trying to find out what the better graphics cards are and whether or not they are better then the current graphics card that i have for my desktop (a Geforce 6600GT 128Mb). I think most of the cards ive seen are better.

Is that true? | I'm pretty sure you can play most games on Vista, even the old ones, I can play CSS and CS 1.6 and I can even play Diablo 2. All you need to do is make sure you have all the latest drivers for your card. Also, if you want to play all the new cool games you are gonna need Vista, sure they have cracked versions of the new games to play on XP, but thats dumb (as well as illegal) and you probably won't be able to play them online (don't quote me on that though). What software specifically do you want to be able to run on Vista?

Well, your right, I will want to be able to play the new games. Also some games i currently have and would like to be able to play are FEAR and Fable. It sounds like the better choice is deffinetly Vista, so i think i will go with that.
Edit: Also, whats your opinion of external Hard drives. The laptop I am currently looking at has the choice of a 120Gig HD and a 160 for an extra 75 dollars. When I look at external harddrives it looks like i could spend about 90 dollars and get a 120Gig (more gigs for your buck). I would just like to know how well External HDs generally operate though.
Edit again: Also, do you (or anybody else) think that in the long run its worth the extra 115$ to update from the 1.6 to the 1.8GHz Processor? How about the extra 195$ to update from the 1.6 to the 2.0GHz Processor? Oh, and if im not mistaken Intels prices should be dropping somewhat soon. Do you think that this will be evident in Dells laptops anytime soon?
