Can anyone tell me how i can get my Palm Treo 750 to connect to my PC via Bluetooth so that ActiveSync and File Sharing works... I cant quite figure it out, but Ive read that you have to assign COM ports... The phone has BT built in and my computer is using a Belkin Class 2 USB dongle...
I want to be able to sync to my phone by just having it in the vincinity so I dont need cables or a cradle..
Thanks,
ShuckyD

Im not quite sure about ActiveSync and your specific phone.
But Ive got a Bluetooth USB dongle in the PC.
And a Samsung t509 which supports Bluetooth.
In my phone settings, I find Bluetooth. And Turn it ON. Visibility ON.
I go into "My Bluetooth Places" on my PC. And then click "View Bluetooth Devices in Range"
I click on my phone. Click "File Transfer." Type a pin into the phone and PC (Any pin). Then it becomes obvious. |

i think it has to be done through a COM port because I have a brand new phone and for whatever reason Palm decided NOT to equip it with bluetooth 2.0 so i still have 1.2 and I didnt think that supported File Transfers as easily.. but I have googled it and people do it, I dont know if its some sort of BT hack tho? |

Doesn't it mention anything about file transfers in its manual?
With pretty much all Bluetooth devices you have you search for it on either your PC or device and connect them up together. You can set the device up as 'authorized' so file transfers take place automatically, without prompt.
What have you tried so far?

not that i have... its a pretty simple "getting started guide" that came with it.. i figured ActieSync and BT is out of the norm for most users
ive tried on my PC setting activesync to accept connections on a COM port i set and then setting that port under the BT's advanced configuration (Local Services) tab to a Bluetooth serial port then trying to get that port set on my device, sometimes the port numbers cant be set to the same.. and they seem like it doesnt work |
