help with Dell Latitude Cpx on tv

Hello I am currently trying to hook up my dell latitude cpx to my tv to use it as my monitor. It has an S-Video out port, and my tv has RCA ports only, so i purchased a cable which is s-video to an rca connector for my video in. Well when I boot up my laptop, when i get to the welcome screen in xp, it starts to display on my tv, but then about 5 to 10 seconds after that it flickers and the picture goes away.Ive tried everything in the display settings and also enabled everything in my BOIS, with no luck, could anyone help me??

Hey & Welcome to TechIMO

Just try cycling through the Fn 5 or Fn 8 setting. Fn is the Function key <lower left> with Blue Fn on it & either the 5 or 8 key <varies by maker> has a Blue box which represents the monitor.

Hope that's all it is.

hello, thanks for your reply, yeap ive tried that, ive also tried starting it with it plugged in and also unplugged and then hitting the fn and f8 buttons but no luck, it flickers on for about 10seconds then flickers off, cant figure it out. thanks for your help though.

Maybe try a lower monitor resolution? I connected a notebook to an older TV at work & it -the TV- wouldn't display above 800x600.

hey, thanks for your reply, i tried a bunch of different screen resolutions and also different colour settings, but still no luck, but i just tried hooking up my old monitor off my windows 95 up to my vga port and it works perfect once i hit the fn an f8 key, so i guess my computers having problems sending it via s-video.
