I need help finding a durable laptop either Mac, XP, or Linux. I need a DVD/CD Burner, able to run photoshop, a badass wi-fi card for finding hotspots, and MAYBE a GF 7600 equiv. graphcard like for Source engine and nextgen games. I'd like to keep it cheap as possible though... i kinda wanna learn linux or mac. if its a linuxtop i just want it for wi-fi, DVD/CD burning, and GIMP.. if mac, wi-fi, dvd/cd burn, whatever mac graphic design progs are out there

well macs are out if you want cheap. cheapest one they have is 1200-1300 new.
Linux? Pick a refurb and install your favorite flavor.
Windows, unless your good with onboard graphics your going to get a second rate manufacturer for a real vid card to be added. Again not cheap.
Cheers! |

Tigerdirect.com
Newegg.com
Outlet.Dell.com
shopping.hp.com
ETC. Time to dig out the ol' web browser and start shopping. All wireless is built to a standard, so unless your an electrical engineer ready to sodder your own antena into the laptop. They are all going to do the same job basicly.
Just a heads up. Before you ask a question like this, do some homework because you could have answered most of these questions going to bestbuy.com and circuitcity.com. Cheers! |

Cheers! | I came here mostly for personal suggestions about good laptops. I don't want a POS that will break in a year |

The Tough Book. http://www.panasonic.com/business/to...-computers.asp
Everyone has a diffrent experience, even with the same model of computer. Check Newegg's comments from buyers on anything. Some will complain about certain things and others will site its glory for the same thing. It all comes down to it being opinions on personal taste. Only you are going to be the judge on how your going to like a laptop.
Personally, my gripes about manufacturers and specific models are due to my desires and expectations from their product but i am definitely not everyone.
If you want a personal suggestion, go with Dell ...
The main thing your going to run into is that Cheap = not everything or even half of want you want. I can take a base model Laptop and once im done picking everything i want on it and its still 1300-1400 bucks instead of the 500 it started at. |
