Cheap laptop??
I understand I will probable cause a few people to laugh over this question. But my parents would like to get my younger sister a laptop for christmas, and they want me to see if I can find one for under "500" dollars. I've already told them any laptop under 500 dollars is probably not worth buying, but they told me to check anyway. All she would probably use this for is internet, IM, music, and a some school work(word processing, reports, research, powerpoint, etc...).
I found this one on circuitcity.com

Would this get the job done? Any Suggestions.
Thanks,

A sub - $500 laptop will suit her needs just fine. Personally I would go for a bigger screen, but if she values portability over screen size, then that will be fine.

Hi there.
I also think that lappy would do the job your asking. But my only thought is that you could probably get a better deal from Dell. You could probably get a Dell lappy for the same price as that, that is a little faster.
If you don't want to do that, if you do get that laptop, I would suggest you run XP instead of Vista. With only 1 gig or ram, and a Celeron CPU, Vista isn't going to run that good...

I also agree that Dell laptops would be a better choice. Check out the Vostro series. I don't really know about Acer laptops because I have never owned one, but Dell laptops are very reliable IMO. I bought two laptops from them, both of them for myself, but i gave one of them to my brother. Its been more than a year and a half, and still rock solid. Also, Dell customer support is one of the best from my experience.

Here at Acer, we pride ourselves on being able to offer you the same quality as Dell, and HP for a mere fraction of the price.
Check out Acer - United States for more details, but remember, that Acer do not sell products directly, and you would need to contact an Acer reseller to purchase your chosen machine.

There is nothing a person can say at a time like this that truly conveys what we feel, or make up for your loss. I'm sure you know in your heart that she is in a better place now, and no longer...
