| Sony Vaio OS Help
Howdy all.
Last November I was one of the many people that stood outside bestbuy for 12 hours in 10 degree weather for "Black Friday". I was there for a good reason though. I got a sony Vaio for $400! pretty good deal. The only down side was that it came with Windows Vista. (I'm not a real fan of it yet) So I figured that i could just throw windows XP on it when I got it, to make it faster and because some of my games won't play on it. After a but of research, I couldnt find any Drivers for it for windows XP for this laptop. Is it just me or is this common? does anyone know where I might be able to find some of the drivers? or if the Drivers for Vista may work on XP in this case? thank you very much.
The laptop is a Sony Vaio VGN-NR110E
if theres any more info you may need, I can try to get it. but frankly, Im stumped. |

For finding drivers you're really limited to a couple options.
Option A: Search Google you'll see there are a few posts out there with people trying the same thing. If you already have XP installed then try the recommend drivers they have found.
Option B: Write down the components that you have now and search the manuf. site of each one for XP drivers. Or install XP then search for the missing drivers on the manuf site.

Thanks for the quick response RicheemxX . I havent installed windows XP on the laptop yet. Do you think that would work? The driver I'm most worried about is the motherboard/video drivers. I couldnt find them anywhere. |

Something to be careful of is that if there was not version with XP on it that there may not be XP drivers for some of your hardware. Ethernet/Video may be easy enough but if you got a vaio with a cam for instance, you may not be able to use it all with XP as it was never designed for XP.
XP has ALOT of driver support so if your comfortable wiping and letting plug and play and some google-fu find stuff, have at it. |
