Acer Aspire 5610 turns off suddenly

My 5610 had the same problem, alot. I got a chill pad and now it only does a data dump a couple or three times a week. The problem with the chill pad is that you have to put something about an inch high under the computor and something else an inch high between the computor and the chillpad or it won't circulate air properly.

While I sympathise with your problem, I must report that sometimes when machines come into us for repair, they do go faulty again in the future.

When a laptop comes into us, our technicians main job is to find what is causing the problem and fix it. For example, if you tell us "my hard drive is making a loud noise" then our tech will check and replace the hard drive.

After the tech has finished, the machine is in for testing, and is checked by a comprehensive PCcheck system. If it passes the testing and the fault fixed, it is shipped back to you.

Errors do happen, but as I am sure you are aware, we are only human.

If youd like a longer warranty or a quicker service, may I suggest getting an AcerAdvantage warranty? This would be a priority repair and will extend your warranty to 3 years, with accidental damage cover.

I would check your power supply, ac/dc plug on the motherboard (might be loose), check the fan on the motherboard, you may have an overheating problem and your motherboard would throttle to protect the CPU, and for that you can run a dianogstic test on it. The test would tell you what is wrong with your computer (if it is overheating).

I am facing a problem with my Acer Aspire 5610 laptop. Every now

am writing this message I am afraid that if it trips I will have

to retype the entire message again.

I don't see any pattern in which it trips, some times it doesn't

trip at all for days but for the past 2 days it is tripping in

every 5 mins.

I am really pissed off with the ACER as a brand. I want to know

if anyone else is facing the same problem?

In my college we got bulk deal for Acer laptops, out of around 30 laptops as many as 5 laptops have been reported to have the same problem as mentioned in the thread. The laptops are just 5 months old... :-(

Me too facing the same problem... does acer have any policy off batch call offs... if there are problems at large scale acer must think of some thing

I have written to Acer customer support with the details of all the problems we are having... but its almost a week now... no response...

I am sure this is giving us a very bad experience and we might have to advise our friends against Acer.

hi guys,

im from Portugal and my acer 5610 have the same problem.... and the worst is having 2 years, so i dont have warranty anymore...

My laptop turn off and sometimes reebot and give me 1 long beep and 2 short.. but not all the time, and if i unplug the power ac and turn on again works fine... Im really piss off .. Ill never buy again ACER laptops. This is really crazy, the crash is random but i notice is when i press a little bit more the keyboard or touchpad. Before, when crash the bios beep after reboot and the clock reset and set a password to bios, very strange... so I updated the BIOS, and set my own password, so now he only do random reboots but dont clear the clock and dont give me beeps anymore... so at least i fixed that problem... but i dont understand why he crash... I tested everything, scan for virus... everything and what i think the problem is, is some short circuit or something... but its strange so many people with acer reporting this problem...

sorry about my english, hope this help for someone, i think we need to be togheter against acer because we spent alot of money on our laptops to have only 2 years...

mine is an acer 5612wmli with intel core duo 1.66ghz, 1gb ddr2 667, 80gb hdd, 7300go nvidia

it was very hard to write this because he crashed 3 times...

Hey guys,
I have had my laptop 2 years now, and suddenly around Christmas time, It started turning off for no reason, It just happens randomly and, Im getting a bit frustrated, Im a graphic designer and I cant render my images due to this fact, Can anyone please help me?
