| Starbucks: Forget T-Mobile, get (free) WiFi with AT&T

At Starbucks, T-Mobile is out and AT&T is in, at least when it comes to WiFi. AT&T and Starbucks announced their new partnership this morning, saying that the carrier plans to offer a variety of service offerings at 7,000 Starbucks locations in the US. Best of all, many customers will be able to access the service for free (as in beer), with paid offerings as low as $3.99 for two hours of use.
| Wow. ATT is just pushing the business so much further than i expected. Locked down the Iphone and now be able to get FREE wifi at any starbucks! Damn i really need to switch carriers! |

ATT sucks for everything else. Cost for cell services keep going up and up, CSR's suck, boradband costs are going up and they are looking into content filtering. They give away their wifi in spots but they are limited.
While I think its cool they are taking over starbucks I wouldn't jump ship just to get the service free.

Yeah I've used AT&T wireless since before the merger. IMO it was much nicer back then. Now their plans are a little costlier, data plans IMO suck, texting has gone up ect.
I also use them for DSL, mainly because my only other option is comcast. And I loath comcast!! ATT has announced they will up the fee's and has stated plans on doing content filtering. Neither of which is my biggest complaint. That goes to the fact that we live in a suburb of Sacramento and the best speeds we can get are 384k up and down.
The free ATT hotspots are only available to broadband subscribers anyways. Having wireless with them doesn't give you squat AFAIK! http://www.news.com/8301-10784_3-985....html?tag=head Quote: |
Free Wi-Fi will be offered only to AT&T broadband subscribers who subscribe to services with 1.5Mbps downloads or higher. Subscribers who only have the company's wireless service will not be offered free Wi-Fi.

Your getting dogged on your DSL connection. Have you checked into Covad? My work has an office out that way with a 1.5/384 line, its not a business line either. |
