Ok, so I got this laptop on sale at BB:
AMD Athlon(TM) 64 X2 1.8 ghz 2X256 Cache
14.1" WXGA widescreen LCD with CrystalBrite technology
2GB PC2-5300 DDR2 SDRAM (have 4GB coming from NewEgg)
160GB Serial ATA (5400 rpm)
Double-layer DVD±RW/CD-RW
ATI RADEON X1250 Up to 896MB HyperMemory
Not really knowing much about AMD since I've been with Intel for years, I am looking for some info on upgrading the CPU. The only thing I know since Everest isn't showing the chipset properly but I believe it to be ATI M690G / ATI 7910 ?? Any help would be great.
Thanks
Sweeper

Well ... hmmmm... guess I'm on my own. I found this CPU since my board is a Socket S1. I figure with the ram upgrade and CPU upgrade it should run rather nicely even though the on-board graphics aren't up to par with the rest of the machine. But I'm using it for other CPU intense applications rather than Gaming. ' Movies, DVD-Burning, MS Office Apps. etc etc.

Hmmmmmmmmmmm.............. ACER just responded via e-mail and told me that " Notebooks cannot be upgraded like a typical computer and that I cannot upgrade the CPU/ Video card/ Memory/ Motherboard etc. "
WTF? HELLO???? When I purchased the computer BB wanted to upgrade it to 4GB of Memory themselves and the advertisement even says upgradable to 4GB DDR2 etc etc....
*sigh |
