I'd say asus over sony, both make great laptops, but asus throws in the accidental damage warranty which would have saved two laptops for me if I'd had it. Plus the asus has a dedicated graphics processor, which would make a huge performance difference between the two if you play games, and asus is more learned towards games/performance anyways.
Though, the sony has a way faster cpu. Depends on what you want to use them for I suppose, if you are going gaming/multi purpose, I'd say asus, but if you are looking more productivity/mobility, the sony has a better cpu, and will probably get way better battery (I've heard asus gets really bad battery life, and I had a 13" sony and it got great battery). Also though, if you are looking for mobility, I would look at something smaller, you can pick up a macbook on ebay for less than 1k, they are nice computers, and new ones come with bootcamp (the ability to run windows), and they get really good battery, are really fast, and look nice too.

Good catch on the warranty. I might be playing World of Warcraft on it on the trips but that is the most I would tax the video.
Also what price would you consider a base laptop, non gaming, for work to be? something decent to work on.

Out of the two, the Asus. 1 more GB of ram, and a huge jump in graphics performance. Quote:

I grabbed the Asus, since I need it in a couple days. Had to order it fast. |
