Power controller failure?

Hi,

I have a Compaq nc6220. The battery used to last for about four hours. Now it will only hold about a 30 minute charge. I assumed that the battery was bad, so I changed it, but still got the same results.

Modifyhing the settings under Control Panel>>Power Options>>Power Schemes, don't make any difference.

I assume that there is a power controller that determines how much the battery charges, etc, but am wondering if there is anything I can do to try and reset it or whatever, to see if I can get this to work.

Does this make sense?

Any ideas?

Thanks,

It makes sense......it may be something constantly running on high settings such as the screen running on maximum brightness.....but it still doesent explain what the problem is....

It might be a connection in the laptop it may not be functioning properly....

are you sure it is the battery and not the laptop overheating, or a component overheating??
