Not sure if this is the place to ask for advice on a PDA. My son will start high school next fall and we're thinking of getting him a PDA for graduating 8th grade. I wouldn't get him one unless I knew he would use it, and he will. But I'm not going to blow several hundred bucks on the thing, maybe $150.
What would he do with it? Keep track of homework, phone numbers and e-mail addresses, and maybe play a game or two. I'm not getting it because he's disorganized, but just to help him be better organized.
What would you recommend in that price range? I've looked at the Handspring Visor Neo, which looks pretty cool, but I want to hear from other users.

I think the Visor Neo would be a good choice. I've owned both Palms and Handsprings - and would choose a Handspring in this case.

Personal Opinion: Like an 8th grader will actually use a cool electronic device like that for keeping organized.. .
But anyways. . . how about one of the lower end Palm handheld's . .. one of the "M" series perhaps.n Ive seen them as low as $99. |

OK, I'll admit it's an extravagance. But, hey, the kid works really hard, gets good grades, is very conscientious. He'll put it to good use, and be able to play some games (they're not allowed to bring game boys or anything to school).
Anyone else?

Yeah definately look at the Neo, maybe the m125 (IMHO it looks kinda ugly though). I don't know how much the m130 is but I heard it was a great buy for a color device.
Also look around for sony's PDAs? The black and white version of the PEG-T416 has a good high-res screen but it's monochrome so it shouldn't be too expensive. The all-metal case would be a big plus (I own an m505 and would never go back to a plastic case PDA).

m505 - Ick. If I was going to spend that much on a PDA, I'd get a PDA w/ Windows CE....

Tigerdirect has a very nice HP Jornada with wireless modem for about $150. Has Windows CE on it too, color screen. Its only after a wireless service rebate though. But hey, they originally cost like $400....... |

Too bad every windows CE pda is a brick, and the software is far inferior to Palm's OS (For what I use it for, at least)
