So I am looking to buy a laptop for the first time and I have almost no clue what I am doing. I am a gamer but mostly console. I really only play rts and mmo on pc so I don't think I need the insane graphics required for most FPS.
My desktop specs:
2gb ram
2.3GHz core 2 duo processor
geforce8800 gts video card
The main problem is I don't really know laptop specs very well. Does anyone have any suggestions for a laptop comparable to my desktop? What cost range would I be looking at? Weight? Any general brand sugestions?

An 8600M GT isn't even half as fast as an 8800 GTS. It isn't a bad card, but they are not really comparable.
Also, since the new Centrino 2 platform was launched a few weeks ago, it would be best to wait until they hit the market.

Very true, but out of the laptops currently on the market, this is a very good model for a very good price. You will "nearly" never get a laptop that is comparable to a desktop. That is not the point of a laptop, laptops are designed to be used when you cant use a PC. |

That may be true, but it would be nice to note that when you make the post. Otherwise it makes it appear that you are trying to cheat them or do not know much about computers.
But I would still wait for the Centrino 2 platform. Would you happen to know about when Centrino 2 based laptops will be released by Acer or any other company, or if there are any available already? |

I understand.
Those previews sound nice. My grandparents have been looking for a nice laptop for a while now and I'll make sure to check it out once it is released, thanks. |

That's not a bad looking case, it actually looks pretty good in picture.
I'd hate to see the price though. |
