I am looking for a new phone (birthdays coming up!) and I was looking at the iphone 3g, anyone own one, mind sharing their bill per month and have any grips or regrets to getting one. Be brutally honest folks ^_^
PS: Do i have to get my music from i tunes or can i get it from other sources? |

I personally would choose a Windows Mobile phone over an iPhone. Yeah, the iPhone has good looks and a nice touch screen. But you can get an HTC phone (HTC PPC6800, Touch, and the S740, hopefully coming to the US soon) that has touch screen and good looks, as well as having the largest free software support of any other PDA phone. That means you should be able to find a program, for free, that can have the phone do anything you want it to do.
I find that people buy the iPhone just because of the exclusivity of the Apple brand name.

Here are the pricing plans: iPhone 3G, Exclusively from AT&T and Apple - | Wireless from AT&T, formerly Cingular
You can get your music from other sources Quote: |

| The iphone has an ap store Apple - iPhone - App Store with free applications and ones that you pay for. The ap store has some really cool applications.
As of right now there are some issues with the Iphone and the firmware. Issues ranging from horrible 3g speeds (this is still under investigation if its a 3g infrastructure issue, a firmware issue, or a chipset issue), laggy typing for the onscreen keyboard, sync issues (sometimes taking 2 hours), crashing applications.
I have several friends who swear up and down that its the best phone they have ever had (both have the new 3g model). I've been thinking about getting one, but with the issues they are having listed above im holding off to see what happens. |

I just don't see what makes the iPhone so special. Especially for the price. Now with the HTC Touch only being $100, why spend twice as much for a phone that as far as I can tell, does the same thing.
I am going to google the new 3g iphone and see what features it has. If you could let me know what makes the iphone special, that would be great.
Also, the MAIN reason why I wouldn't get an iphone is becuase you can only get it through AT&T.
EDIT: I didn't know the new 3g was a lot cheaper than the old iphone, so I edited my comment to reflect that.
