Whats the word on dell?

I just bought this dell laptop from bestbuy.

http://http://www.bestbuy.com/site/o...=1210982227895

It was on sale for 600. I've never owned a Dell so I'm not sure what to expect. I just need it for every day computing and school assignments, not a big gamer. Im really saving up for an iMac, but my toshiba laptop just crashed on me. I'm hoping this will get the job done. Do any of you have any experience with Dell computers?

Me thinks you should have asked before the purchase

Drive it for a few more days and report back and tell us what You think.

If I don't build, I buy Dell's....Ya unpack em...plug em in and turn em on and off you go.

So what is the question exactly?

Every PC I've bought has been a dell, but that only goes back about 6 years. I've got 2 Dell desktops and 1 Dell laptop.

"Me thinks you should have asked before the purchase"

True, true...

I just placed the order online about an hour ago. I have a freind that said he's sceptical of the quality of Dell's products of late. Something about new Dell being under new ownership. But he's never owned one, neither have I. I just wanted to check with you guys to see if any red flags go up. Might not be too late to cancel the order. Thanks for any info.

Dell being under new ownership?

I've never heard anything like that.

Maybe Alienware, but not Dell ( a year or two back Dell Bought up Alienware, but as far as I know the quality of their gaming systems hasn't changed either), maybe thats what he was thinking?

OR, he could of gotten Dell mixed up with Gateway, which was recently merged/bought up by Acer.

but that system is more than adequate for regular usage for school & what not, not sure of gaming, but since you mentioned your not big on that, no problems there then.

But since its a Dell, you should have some good warranty's on it if things need to get replaced etc.

usually Dell is the most highly recommended system manufacturer for anyone looking to buy a pre-built system. aside from Apple/Mac.

Dell ranks high on my list too. Dell is a powerful outfit, and is busy buying up other companies, not being sold to other companies.

Dell is top of my pre-built list. My laptop is a Dell E-1705 and I love it.
