New Netbook help

Have you thought to check your temps?
What are they running?

Yeah fair point. It doesn't feel very hot to touch (outer casing)
I did do a stress test using Prime95.

I'll do a 3D mark test and get back to you.

EDIT: when stress testing it got to about 75 degrees. it is pretty hot where i'm sitting though. It's summer in AUS.

Not real amazing but not bad considering the intel graphics.

Its the CPU holding it back. My laptop has the same intel graphics and I score closer to 400 marks with a Core 2 Duo.

Well, yeah a faster CPU is always going to help. IMO that's an obvious fact. I don't know what Core2 you are running but I'm sure if you had a better Core2 installed you would get a better score too.

Do some research on the Atom. (I'm not saying you haven't) You may be surprised. I think we all know that you can't compare Atom and Core2. Pitched at different markets. I bet the atom uses a tenth of the power a Core2 uses.

I have been using the Wind for a few weeks now, and i have to say that the Atom CPU hasn't slowed me down. I'm running Vista with 2GB ram, with no lagging whatsoever. I encode music, play games and surf the net. I haven't touched my main rig since i received the netbook. I have had no need for it....yet.

Also how much ram are you running?
