depends on the laptop & its specifications & what not.
some can be, most can't... the ones that can be are usually limited to whatever chips were optional when it was built.
if you ordered one with a given chip in it, & there were 1 or 2 better chips available as options, its possible it might be able to upgrade. but the chances are slim.
even when there are options, the same model laptops, may use different boards with the optional cards embedded on them.
there's lots of reasons why most are not upgradeable... the most significant is that most people who buy a laptop are not looking to upgrade every last component in them on a regular basis, like some of us with desktops...
another is that progressively more powerful video cards eat up more power, lowering battery run times, as well as output more heat... two things people who buy a laptop generally DON'T want.
there's other reasons too, but those are some of the main ones.
if your looking for a laptop with an upgradeable graphics module, your best bet is sticking with higher end, Gaming Laptops... there' mainly the only choices with that kind of upgrade path, & even then, many are not upgradeable.
