laptop about 900$

I want to buy a notebook. I never had one so I don't know how things are about laptops.

I am a computer engineer and I need to run programs like pspice, autocad etc...
I also want to install Linux and windows xp, i say that because i have heard that there are laptops which only have windows vista and you cannot install any other OS.

I only buy Dell pc when I don't build em myself. Many of the Dell's currently have an option to select XP....Just pick out the fastest processor with 2 gigs of ram and let your budget be your guide.
