What are you getting that is 3.1Ghz? I don't know of any processor that runs at that speed. |

I know that, I have the X2 BE 2400+, actually a minor OC on it up to 2.4GHz... but was pointing out that, THAT chip is a 3.1GHz CPU as per your comment above. |

There shouldn't be any problems, but like I said, that will use up a lot more power and put out a lot more heat. |

agreed, the X2 BE 2400+ is a nice little chip, granted its a bit on the lower end as far as clock speeds go, but it can be easily overclocked to faster speeds with no troubles, assuming you get the right motherboard with it. its got a low enough voltage & Wattage rating that if you did do any overclocking it shouldn't raise temps too high also assuming your air cooling solution is adequate (as well as case cooling)
also that X2 5400+ linked to above, is a nice in between chip, between the BE 2400+ & the 6000+. not to mention its the Black Edition, with unlocked Clock Multipliers to allow for better overclocking if thats something you wanted to do?
The X2 BE chips also are unlocked, but lower wattage/voltage.
but just have to remember to order a CPU Heatsink/Fan for the Black Edition if you got it. as they don't come with one. |
