Purchasing HP dv5z... 32 or 34 bit OS?

I have decided to replace my current laptop with a HP dv5z. I have a the choice to get vista in a 32 bit or 64 bit OS. I honestly know very little between the differences besides 64 bit is the newer version. I will primarily be using the laptop for photo editing, movies, and music while on the road.

Can someone please enlighten me on the pros and cons?

I believe the biggest advantage 64bit has is you can use more than 4 gig total memory.

does it actually require more memory to run efficently? i was planning on 3 gigs.

Pro - 3.5gb+ memory

Con - Compatability

64bit not worth hassle if you not using more memory.... imo

4 gig "total"for 32 bit, that includes video memory and any other kind of memory on the computer, including BIOS.
If you have a 1 gig video card you would get less than 3GIG

Things like video editing might benefit, but in most cases 4 is enough.
