Gateway W340UA System Restore problem after replacing bad hard drive

I have a notebook. Model: MX3416. Also listed as model W340UA.

My hard drive failed and I put in a new one. Tried using the system restore disk and it brought back XP Home, but not the rest of the stuff that may have been in a restore partitiion on the old hard drive. I cannot configure my sound card or wireless card. Is there another disk I could get to solve this restore problem??

Please advise.

When I restored in the past, it asked me about setting up an internet connection, etc ... The restore disk now asks me about setting up user accounts - don't recall it asking me that before. The restore options also don't mirror what is in the brief restore documentation. When I restored in the past it matched the documentation exactly.
