Hey guys,
Well that time has come around for me to get a new laptop.
I am specifically looking for a Gaming Laptop that is under $1000 Australian dollar preferrably (must be Australian dollar).
2.2GHz or more, 160GB Hard Drive or more, 15inch or more screen, 2GB of memory or more, atleast 256MB of memory, atleast 1GB of RAM, Good battery life, and more of the other essentials are the kind of components im looking for in this gaming laptop.
(sorry what i just said probably didnt make too much sense as i have no real idea what im talking about).
If you have any laptops that suit what im looking for and are great for gaming, please note them or give me any advice i may need to buy one.
Thankyou heaps! |

Hi, Aza:
Welcome to TechIMO.
A "cheap gaming laptop" can only play cheap games. Better to tell us what you want to play, then we'll suggest ideas. |

If you're budget can go closer to $1400 AUD then that opens up a lot more options for you.
What games do you plan on playing? Also, can you post some links to the stores they are available for you to purchase from? (Local and online Australian stores)

Long battery life and gaming are indeed mutually exclusive. 3D graphics need a lot of power.
I bought my Dell Vostro with nVidia 8600 GT for US$750 and it games pretty well. You should be able to find something similar.

You would be surpsied with newer laptops these days.
My Asus came with a 9 cell battery and it last 3 hours 45 minutes when watching movies, and around 1 hour 30 minutes when gaming, that is in Extreme Turbo mode as well and almost 2 hours in normal mode.
And when running the Splashtop mode on my laptop (Instant boot linux) The battery can alst well over 5 hours when just surfing the net) |

True, but the difference between 5 hours and 90 minutes is pretty drastic. |

Usually, when someone plans on gaming with a laptop, they are in a place where they can plug it in. |
