| T-Mobile cell phone suggestions?
So, I am in desperate need of a new phone. I have T-mobile and will be buying the phone on Ebay (trying to keep it around $200).
I would love the G1, but don't want to pay for the extra G1 data plan ($15/month more than the data plan I already have.... supposedly required....)
The Behold and the Memoir both look good, but I'm not sure...
I will be using the phone to talk, text, check gmail, browse the internet, etc...
Any suggestions?

You mentioned the G1, and really if you can find one in your price go for it. I understand you not liking the extra charge, but it's sooooo worth it.
I've had my G1 for 5-6 months now, and I can't say enough good things about it. It absolutely rocks. And with the new cupcake update coming out by the end of this month, it's gonna get even better.
I've played with the Behold, and I didn't really like it that much. The G1 seemed quicker while going between apps, and I really didn't like the on screen keyboard on it. I've never gotten a chance to play with the Memoir.
So why does the G1's data plan cost more then the data plan for the other phones? It wasn't like that here. |

Upon further inspection it seems that T-Mobile has no idea what is going on with the G1. You can use it with their G1 data plan (which they say that you have to) or you can get it to work without any (but lose non-wifi internet capabilities). I cannot find anything to say whether or not the data plan is any different besides the 3G speeds (which aren't available in this area) |

A data service is required for the T-Mobile G1 in order for the phone to work properly. G1 data services keep you effortlessly connected to everything that matters, with Internet access, e-mail, messaging, and much more.
There are three G1 data services. We’ll add the Unlimited Web + Unlimited Messages option to your cart, or you can choose another option. T-Mobile G1 Unlimited Web + Unlimited Messages
T-Mobile G1 Unlimited Web + 400 messages
T-Mobile G1 Unlimited Web (Available only to customers with Unlimited Domestic Messages for Families service)

Well IDK what your budget is and what not. But I put together a reasonable package for ~$75 a month. http://i99.photobucket.com/albums/l3...81/G1price.png
It's hard to read. Basically it was:
600 mins
free nights + weekends starting at 7
unlimited my favs (which comes in handy)
Free tmobile to tmobile
unlimited web
400 texts a month
I know we pay ~$130 for our 2 phones. We have something like 1000mins , unlimited everything else.
Is that to high? |

See, the issue is that we already have a family plan with 4 line with unlimited minutes on all lines, unlimited texts on all lines, and unlimited data on 2 lines. I am looking to keep this current plan and use all of the features of the G1 (with the exception of the G1). |

Hmm... Looking around, IDK what to tell you. The behold or the Memoir both look nice. But I don't see how your not gonna have to pay for the extra data plan with either of those phones too.
That said, I don't think I can really help you much more. I only played with the behold for 5 mins or so, so I can't honestly judge it by that amount of time.
Good luck. |

I would definitely take a look at the Samsung Gravity it meets your needs and your price. Samsung has been on a roll lately with their phones, most rate very good. |
