    Question HP nc6000 fn keys

hello all, new here, first post. great site and forums!

anyway, i have an HP compaq nc6000. great laptop (my first) which i bought used about six months ago, upon which i immediately wiped all the junk out of the hard drive, tweaked the OS (XP Pro SP3) a little, and maxxed the memory (2GB)

i scrolled through 20-odd pages of nc6000 tech issues here, also read the manuals, and stopped just short of calling HP for the answer to this question:

MOST of the fn-keys work. sleep, brightness, printscreen, all great. but why not the battery status (if that's indeed what it is!) specifically fn-F8 which has a little battery icon in blue. i'm assuming if working properly, something should pop up with a charge %?

this isn't a big issue for me, just an oddity...

    thanks in advance.

    benji, sol system

Look in Contol Panel->Power Options to see if you need to enable the "Battery Status" icon.

hi, and thanks for your quick response!

i checked that control applet, but it only seems to affect the systray battery status indicator.

i think i need to peruse the services list again and see if perhaps in my haste i disabled something there by accident...
