Dear TechIMO,
I was fixing my friends Dell Insiron 1521 by re-installing Vista Home Premium for her, everything installed fine and works great.
However, what stumps me the most is after installing 83 updates of various System Drivers and Windows Fixes the computer still fails to tell me what Service Pack it's running under if any at all and Automatic Updates fails to find SP1 as if it doesn't even exist it's saying her Laptop is up-to-date.
Now at this point my only choice is to manually install it myself or just assume her Laptop has a good reason not to install it for whatever reason that might be.
Also before we formated under System Properties it said 2.00GB of memory and now it's saying 1918, I know some laptops share memory between the video however I don't know if this is the case.
If anyone could help shine some light on this situation I would greatly appreciate it becaus I'm stumepd and I can't find any trace of a service pack anywhere.
- Thanks.
EDIT:
P.S. - On the bottom she has a Windows Vista Home (Basic) OEM Product Key however she has informed me that she doesn't know where her Vista disc is.
Would it be legal If I where to go torrent a Windows Vista Home Basic 32bit OEM Disc and use HER Product Key? I don't technically think it would be pirating since she owns a product liscense.
