| Sony Vaio GRX Laptops - Opinions?
I'm trying to choose a Laptop for use at home as a desktop replacement.
The GRX316MP particularly appeals to me, partly because it's 16" screen is the largest available for any Laptop... correct me if I'm mistaken here.
Please let me know if you would recommend the GRX316MP... or not.
Also, is Sony Support any good in the UK... I've heard/read that the service is bad.
TIA,
Russ

| Welcome to TechIMO!
Are you interested in looking into differant alternatives, because i always like to get people to have alook at MACS. I dont own one but i would own one but i cant afford it and have ADSL aswell! http://www.apple.com/powerbook/
Thats the power book! Its made of Titanium, and i'm sure its specs will blow the sony out of the water!
Of coarse it costs a small fortune But whoa!

Not sure about the GRX316, but I like my VAIO GR390.
The UXGA TFT's look really great, although not at the lower resolutions. My 15.1 SXGA+ TFT is crystal clear at 1400 x 1050 and 1600 x 1200, but looks fuzzy at 1280 and lower.
I had a Toshiba with a 1.6 P4, but I didn't like it and traded it for the Sony with a 1.2 Mobil Pentium3.
Here's a similar question at ResellerRatings.com Sony PCG-GRX316MP

Thanks for the replies.
The next issue of What Laptop? - a UK magazine - is out next Thursday & includes a test of desktop replacement laptops. I think I'll wait to see if it includes the GRX316 & find out out how it compares to the others tested.
Cheers,

I like Sony's. I think they are GREAT laptops, but I would also check out an IBM... I don't think anybody makes as good as a laptop as IBM...
