Keyboard/mouse hookup

How would you hook up a ps2 keyboard and ps2 mouse at the same time? I've got a MicronPC laptop with one ps2 port in the back that has an image of both KB an mouse... I've tried using a splitter but it doesnt work. I can only have one at a time plugged in. Other than goign to a usb mouse, how do you get both to work at the same time? or is it even possible?

I have 2 usb slots already on the lappy... I'm wondering if it was designed to run a splitter or if the laptop is saying use Either/Or? and why they sell splitters for ps2

Sounds like your laptop port is marked either / or.
All the splitters that I've seen allow the use of two similar devices. Keyboard/ten key pad---Mouse/trackball that sort of thing.
You might want to look at getting a mouse that will connect to your usb. It would make a little better use of the higher usb connection speed than a keyboard. Ther are quite a few that include converters to use them on ps2 or usb.
