At work we have blackberries which get the same email sent to them as are sent to our desktops, via MS exchange server. So email arrives, BB gets it and it's also in my outlook.
I would like to set this up on another blackberry for my own email address, at present I use my ISP for my main email address - I am thinking of getting a domain and just forwarding it all to the ISP address if this makes things any easier.
I don't have the BB yet, so I am purely at the planning stage and could no doubt spend hours working it all out but I don't want to get the BB if I can't make it do what I need - I would just stick with a normal phone.
I would like it so that I get on my BB & PC all new email, and if I send them I have the sent email also appear on my desktop - can I really only truly get this function by having a mail server? I guess having the sent emails is not as important but for continuity etc it does make things easier (I need to have paper trails of everything I do so I really ought to have this too).
What do you think? |

What do you think? | Hi,
First off, do you need to get a second BB...? You can set up multiple e-mail accounts on one device - I've currently got my work account and a BB one too, although I will be swapping the BB one for one that is hosted on my own SBS at home soon) without much/any fuss... I'm currently using a 'Curve', but it is also true of all other versions too...
Secondly, when you are using BIS you can set up mini-rules on the web-portal that you can configure to auto-BCC sent messages to wherever you want to send them to. This is done on an e-mail address by e-mail address basis, so you can set your work ones to BCC to wherever (bearing in mind that if it hooks up with Exchange it will leave a copy in your 'Sent Items' folder anyway) and your personal one can be copied to yourself (if you aren't sending with Exchange, and you would need to set up a rule to move it to the 'Sent Items' folder if you want to go this way) or wherever else you choose...
Let us know how this works out for you, or if you have any other questions.....

Right OK so i can use BIS to sort this out for me, yes I do have POP and SMTP on my account.
I am leaving my work and setting up on my own so it will be my only BB.
I will organise it soon and set it up, any issues I will be back.
Thanks guys. |

If you're using POP3, then you just need to ensure that any other e-mail clients are set to leave a copy - the BIS (web) portal only checks every 15 minutes, so if your Outlook/whatever gets it and removes it from the store, then it won't be there for the BB to collect... |
