    # 4 #, Which Laptop.....

Will not disappoint me running autocad this semester?

Autodesk - AutoCAD - System Requirements

Also, for any of you autocad enthusiasts out there, is there a big difference besides requirements, between 32 and 64 bit?

Another issue I ponder is the display requirements as opposed to what most laptops can handle?

I'd say any laptop will disappoint you. There's a reason why rendering workstations are desktops, with large monitors, quad core (minimum), and high end graphics cards.

Unless you have $1700+ to spend, don't mind it being large and heavy, and plan on having it plugged in all of the time (1 hr lite use battery life, nothing when using autocad).

Thanks Ex. The monitor I knew absolutely would be an issue. Sigh, I guess I will resign myself to an el Cheapo laptop that I really have little use for outside of research and writing on the go.

Actually, long as you won't be doing the actual rendering on this laptop, something like this might work out:
    Newegg.com - SONY VAIO AW Series VGN-AW350J/B NoteBook Intel Core 2 Duo P7350(2.00GHz) 18.4" 4GB Memory DDR2 800 500GB HDD 5400rpm Blu-ray Disc / Super Multi NVIDIA GeForce 9600M GT - Laptops / Notebooks

    Some other high res screens:
    Newegg.com - PCs & Laptops,Laptops, Notebooks & Netbooks,Laptops / Notebooks,1920 x 1080

Wouldn't want to render much on it, but I'd think that you might be able to get some work done on it (though it would require you to be plugged in).
